BELL CREEK UNPLUGGED!

06/29/2008 - 11:00am

Did you know that the Barna Research Group found that an estimated 75 million adults said that reading the Bible is very important to them. But among Christians in the Western world, the average amount of time spent reading the Bible is less than 7 minutes a day. Yet, the average person spends almost 5 hours a day watching TV!

About a year ago, during the Bell Creek "Spiritual Checkups" we found the biggest issue people struggled with was having a consistent time of reading the Scriptures and praying.

On June 22 we are going to be covering Romans 12:1-2.  This passage of Scripture challenges us to be "living sacrifices."  I think one of the key ways we live as a "sacrifice" is to daily and consistently spend time with God through His Word and in prayer.

I would like to challenge you to join me June 22 - June 29 to turn off your television for an entire week.

That's right, no TV for a whole week.  Instead, let's spend time reading the Word of God and praying, as well as relating to our families and friends without the distraction of TV.

June 22-29 is "Bell Creek Unplugged!"

On Sunday June 22 we are going to have some resources for you to jump-start your Bible reading and prayer life.

Will you join us in unplugging the TV and plugging into the Word of God?! Stay tuned for more information!
